Spot for A780 - Geocaching, hiking, biking, outdoor activities. Combine the power of GPS with worldwide maps and a flexible waypoint management. Orientation and routing enables you to find interesting places, store and share them with others.
If you want to upgrade your existing hardware (mobile phone/PDA and GPS receiver) Spot is ready! The access to a huge amount of existing map services on the internet in combination with GPS creates a new mobile experience

Outdoor Activities:

Spot can be used for a wide range of outdoor activities. You can add waypoints/POIs (Point of Interest) to mark your favorite locations or download them from the internet. Waypoints can be easily exchanged by importing/exporting them to your mobile phone's memory card. They will be visualized on your favorite map and simplify orientation wherever you are.

A built-in tracklogger draws the distance you covered on the map. The Elevation screen will visualize the elevation profile of your track. You can eather use maps from a map service on the internet or download your custom maps from your mobile phone storage.

Navigate with Spot:

Using Moving Map Navigation, the map centeres current position and will therefore move with you. This makes it easy for you to navigate visually in your environment. You can either do that with street level maps or in remote areas with maps composed of satellite photos. You can as well use Spot's routing feature for navigation. It will guide you to a waypoint and gives you information on the distance, estimate time of arrival etc

Geocaching with Spot:

From now on you're never unprepared. Go hunting for geo-treasures equipped with nothing else than your mobile phone. Spot will help you to orientate yourself while placing or looking for caches. Managing even huge amounts of cache information is no big deal with Spot's waypoint management system. Categorize and archive your caches directly on your mobile. Furthermore, the direct support of waypoints and cache descriptions makes Spot the perfect pal on your trips.

The usage of modern Java Technology allows us to offer Spot for a wide range of portable devices. Mobile phones and PDAs (running PalmOS or Windows) as well as Research in Motion's Blackberry (see Spot for Blackberry) are supported platforms.

The GPX waypoint format support assures an user-friendly waypoint exchange and a trouble-free integration into other applications.

Our unique combination of GPS positioning and WMS map server access allows you to navigate on the map of your choice, available from the endless pool of free WMS servers.
